Naomi Tatsuoka

Lead Vocalist

Naomi has been performing since age 5, starting with keyboards and backups on Jackson 5 and other classics. Later, she settled on Whitney Houston, Prince, and Chaka Khan as her deepest influences to shape her writing and vocal stylings.

Armed with her purple bass and a voice that spans Neo-soul back to her Motown roots, she has been taking Portland by storm since 2012. After meeting Jimi and starting Soul Provider, they’ve played in dozens of formats over almost as many years. From their Cali tour to features at Quinault and Kahneeta Casinos, as well as Seattle’s Hempfest, together they’ve spread soul to tens of thousands of listeners throughout the Pacific Northwest.

In 2015, she made Hollywood Week’s Top 72 on Season 14 of FOX’s American Idol, as well as Top 32 “Most Memorable Contestants” out of a pool of over 150k. Later that year, she took the main stage with Jimi at the Waterfront Blues Festival accompanied by her self-titled 12-piece band, simultaneously achieving both her first live album and crowning performance to date.

After more than a couple of long stories, she is officially back from a musical sabbatical. While her first priority is continuing to all but single-handedly raise the best toddler on the planet, you can now find her on a stage or streaming platform near you.

In her spare time, she is the director of REALIGN Nonprofit, where she makes effort to fight climate change and save the world through self-love, holding spaces for community, and fostering urban gardens. She is also a self-proclaimed sunset connoisseur.
